Horror movies have a solid fan base, all over the world. Every few years, gifted directors find a topic and develop a series of films which follow it, creating a more or less successful franchise horror product. Recently, “Saw” franchise received good reviews and warm reception from the genre admirers, and finally this year the 6th sequel has been unveiled.

“Saw VI” is directed by Kevin Greutere and the story has been developed by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (who already wrote “Saw IV” and “Saw V”). This is Greutert third movie as a director (he was much more active as an editor, in the past, and edited all previous “Saw” movies). It is very interesting that the rest of the cast too, are people who were already involved in the making of “Saw” movies. Charlie Clouster, composer for previous movies from the instalment, is back and he did the score once again.

The movie “Saw VI” has been promoted since last August, and it was released in October – traditionally on Friday night, before Halloween. (It is especially a popular release date for horror movies, for years now).

Following the good old horror movie tradition, “Saw VI” has no A-list Hollywood actors in its cast. Mostly debutants and struggling actors are in leading and supporting roles, and they are all very interesting and talented. Here are the ones to watch in the future – cast of the 6th installment of the “Saw”: Tobin Bell (main villain), Costas Mandylor, Mark Rolston and Betsy Russel.

“Saw VI” is the movie focused on the posthumous pressure and effects of the horrific Jigsaw Killer. At the same time, spotlight is on the successor of the Jigsaw Killer – Mark Hoffman, whom we are following through this sequel. Hoffman (as smart as he is) is setting up a trap for the insurance company while at the same time FBI tries to find the last living accomplice of the Jigsaw Killer – Peter Strahm. That is the main plot, with a lot of unexpected twists and turns. In this sequel, focus is also on a heavy economic situation which is a clear emphasis on the present situation and day.

After being released, this sixth “Saw” movie received mixed reviews from horror fans and critics from around the globe. As some wrote it is the best part of the series, others dismissed the movie for unrealistic scenes, political plot and “terrible acting”. Although it grossed less than other “Saw” movies at the box office (around $14 million) on its opening weekend, “Saw VI” is still a huge financial success (since it is originally quite a budget limited production).
